As most of you know, I am really big on preparing for things, whether it be dinners, trips or the upcoming flu season.
Have you every thought about prepping for the change of season?
First of all, the time changes and that is hard for some people. It never bothers me, but it does bother James. He does not like the short days. I personally love it because it feels homey, warm and it slows me down a bit, thank God.
I think with the shorter days it is very important to get outside during the day to feel the sun and appreciate the beauty of a bright day. But if your history tells you that you become melancholy during this season, join a gym, maybe at night, turn the lights on, make sure to eat right, take on a new project. Consider having your Vit D level checked to see if low, there is a correlation. Talk to your Health Care Provider if you cannot manage your symptoms, there is help out there.
So here is my checklist:
Wake up early to appreciate the sunshine.
Walk daily 30 minutes.
About 4:30 turn on the lights, hopefully you have LED lights, if not, get them so as not to pay more PG&E.
Turn on music that makes you feel good, same time, 4:30.
Use more crock pot meals so your have wonderful aromas in your home. Inviting.
Make sure you get your flu shot, RSV if you choose, and make sure your pneumonia vax is up to date.
*I want you to stay healthy.
Multivitamin daily, I prefer chewable.
Vit C 500 mgm every day unless contraindicated by other meds. Remember, one orange is only 113.4 mgm of
Vit C. You would have to eat one kilogram of oranges per day to equal 500 mgm per day.
Personally I take Vit D 2000 IUs per day and increase in the winter, personal choice.
Make sure your asthma inhalers are full, whether it be a rescue inhaler like Albuterol or a steroid inhaler.
Use as directed, but specifically at the beginning of respiratory symptoms. Let's keep you out of the hospital.
I keep Motrin 200 mgm, Robitussin or Vicks 44, Mucinex D or plain Sudafed around. If it is your allergy season don't forget your antihistamines, ie Claritin, saline nasal sprays 3 times per day as needed.
Stay home when sick, masks if out in public with a cough.
Hot tea, especially black tea helps with congestion.
Lots of Kleenex and spray disinfectants, ie Clorox liberally to counters and don't share glasses.
I know this is a lot to think about but I WANT YOU HEALTHY & HAPPY.
