As I write this I can't believe I am learning about a new way to poison us.  How many types do we need to ruin our health?

It is called Zyn and is being advertised as a alternative to smoking.  The problem is that many are skipping cigarettes and are just going to a "pouch in the mouth" thinking that it is safer.  It is not actually nicotine but a nicotine derivative.  So does that mean it is safer?  Doubtful, read on.

Remember the issue with chew and ulcers in the mouth leading to oral cancer?  I do.  Saw quite a few of them in my career.  When that does occur, a radical neck surgery is done and I can guarantee you that it is not easy nor attractive.  We tend to believe that we are only fighting lung cancer, but it is linked to almost all cancers.

We are starting to get a better handle on smoking.  In 1997, 36.7% of 12th graders smoked a cigarette in the last 30 days, not in 2024. Approximately 1.7% of 12th graders have had a cigarette in the the last 30 days. But just like vaping, offering sexy packaging, flavors, etc, kids will try it.  Even big kids.

The nicotine content in a cigarette is 8-12 mgm nicotine, some of the pouches contain up to 50 mgm each,       highly addictive and very scary as it has not been around long enough to see the consequences.

Talk to people that you know considering it's use.  Warn them.

Do we always have to be stimulated?
