We have all had them. Deep in your slumber at night you are awoken by a #10 pain that jolts you either out of bed or causes you to muffle the pain and endure so you don't wake up your partner. A true joy. Leg cramps occur in approximately 40% of people over 50. There are medications that can actually cause leg cramps so talk to your Health Care Provider. Is this Restless Leg Syndrome or leg cramps? They can be confusing, but RLS is relieved by walking and tends to occur steadily through the night. Leg cramps get your attention immediately via pain. Ideally, if you are a person that gets regular leg cramps, try doing hamstring stretches when you lie down to go to bed nightly. Try 10 on each side which consists of point, flex your foot, or even straight leg raises. Remember, an ounce of prevention........ Here is to a good nights sleep.
