In a recent study presented at the American Heart Association Epidemiology, Prevention, Lifestyle & Cardiometabolic Health Scientific Sessions in New Orleans this week, the study addressed whether a daily multivitamin could slow biological aging.
In prior studies from 2022 from the Preventative Services Task Force Review reported that the total number of invasive cancers were reduced with multivitamin supplementation. They also reported a reduction of cataracts and significantly slower age-related memory loss and cognitive decline.
Also noted was slower aging in the group study compared to the placebo group. The report was named the Cosmos report. They reported a 10-20% slower aging process over the course of the 2 year study.
Multivitamins are not a meal or a replacement for good food. It is important to eat a healthy diet of fruits, grains, vegetables and protein to boost the effects of the multivitamin along with a healthy lifestyle. The reports are hopeful, but further studies are needed to replicate these studies.
