When I go to the grocery or stop at the AM/PM, I am literally shocked at the plethora of stimulant drunks, aka energy drinks.  In Mexico, it is even worse, if that is possible.

When I was young, I sound like my dad, we just slept, ate well, exercised and did life.  We worked just as hard, had the same commitments, etc.  What happened?  Do we always need to be stimulated?

A recent article in Medscape, June 27, 2024 showed a relationship between energy drinks and sudden cardiac arrest in YOUNG people. Haven't you noticed all the young people dying in the media?

Five percent of survived cardiac arrests were associated with consumption of these stimulant beverages.  That is really frightening.

They contain 80-300 mgm caffeine compared to coffees' 100 mgm per cup.  They contain taurine and guarana which interact with caffeine and affect the heart rhythm.

Mayo clinic analyzed data from 5000 patients with arrhythmias, irregular heart beats, between 2000-2023.  In

5% of the patients they had consumed energy drinks pre-cardiac arrest.

Is that risk worth it?  Please tell your family members and friends, and certainly don't consume one before exercise.

One more thing, there appears to be a genetic predisposition to some of the 5%.  Are you willing to take a risk?

Please stay away from these terrible drinks.
